Halfway There

On Thursday Bryan and I were able to see our cute little baby during our 20 week anatomy scan. Before the tech started, I was sure to let her know that we did not want to know if the baby was a boy or girl. She told us that they do not record the sex anywhere, so if we change our mind when we go home, we can't just call them up and ask. I was fine with this, because I decided before I knew I as pregnant that I wanted to wait and have it be a surprise when the baby was born. And Bryan decided that he would support me if that's what I really wanted.

The appointment took about 45 minutes. Right when the image came up we could see it's cute little face. It looked chubby to me, though I'm not sure he/she has much fat yet. Our baby is so darn wiggly! The tech was trying to get a picture of each foot, and little baby would stick one out, then pull it back, then stick it out. It's little hands were going everywhere too. Towards the end, she had me go empty my bladder, then come back for a few images that we could take home. Well, apparently in the time I went to the bathroom and came back, our little baby had gone to sleep! It's little face was facing the 'camera' with it's little arms curled up by it's face, and it had it's legs up in the air with it's ankles crossed. She kept trying to get him/her to move so we could get a picture of the profile, but it must have been real comfy :) He finally rolled over for a second, yawned, we got a few images, then rolled back over to

go back to sleep.

After that, the tech says, 'Well, I think that's just about everything'. Right when she said that I had a feeling of panic. I was thinking to myself, 'Oh no, is it too late for me to ask about the sex? Should I say something? If I don't ask now, I won't know for another 4 months!'. But, I stopped myself because I knew that knowing was not really what I wanted. So, we left and I am happy that I didn't give in and find out. Bryan and I both have a 'feeling' that it is a boy, but who knows! We have 6 crazy nephews, so he'd fit right in! Here are some of the images we got to bring home:

Peru 2009

So this was my second time going to Peru with Bryan and his family. I really had a lot of fun the last time, so this time I brought part of my family along! They ended up loving it as well. Here are some pictures from our trip. This was the day before we left... saying good bye to Jaxson!

Above: El Salvador

Here I am with Bryan's cousin Kattya. We arrived in Lima around 8 pm. My parents and brothers arrived about 5 hours later, around 1 am. Her quincennera started at midnight so my family practically went straight from the airport to the party. We were there until about 3:30 am.

Above is a picture of a party that was being held by one of the neighbors. It was a kids birthday party and it went until about 6 in the morning!

I warned my family they would be dancing a lot on this trip! They really enjoyed it! I will have to add videos to this post when I get a chance.

Genesis, Becky's baby girl!

Below are some pictures from the next day. We took a taxi to a place near the ocean and had lunch. Then we headed over to the mall in Lima. It's a pretty neat mall. You might be able to tell from the pictures, it is kind of built into the side of a cliff by the ocean. If you are standing on the street/sidewalk you are pretty much level with the roof of the mall. The mall is open through the middle. The street is on one side, then it drops off to the beach on the other.

Inca Kola... if you ever go to Peru, you will probably drink A LOT of this.

If you look really closely under her arm you can see the design she was making. I have no idea how she was doing it. To me, it looked like she was just pulling random strings...

These are houses up on this hill we took a bus to. The bus ride to the top was the scariest thing I've done! My brother and I were sitting in the very front by the bus driver. He seemed like he was always heading the bus straight towards the edge! But, we survived...

Street where we stayed

This is Bryan's cousins little girl. She had a birthday while we were there. This included a photographer, videographer, Dj and some girl who put on a show, Barney, Baby bop, and tons of good food!

Oh, and how could I forget, this little dessert that looked like a pig! I didn't eat it, it was too cute!

Adam enjoyed using his Spanish while we were there. This little girl at the party really liked him!

Friday we went to the beach!

And Saturday they had a party for Bryan and I, in honor of our marriage. It was a lot of fun!

The day after the party, a little band came to the house and played for us while we ate and danced. That night we went to this park that had tons of different fountains. One of them is the tallest in the world. There was another that went to music and showed different pictures from places in Peru.

Shopping in Mira Flores on my parents & brothers last day. Adam and Spencer were back at the house with the girl cousins... that's were they spent the majority of their time.

This girl is somehow related to Bryan's family. She was in the Olympics in Beijing and won first place in whatever she was competing in. I am not sure what that was haha.

Corner store. There was a big store kind of like Walmart at the end of the neighborhood. The last week we were there I think we went to that store everyday because I looved their popcorn!

This is the bed Bryan and I shared for the first 11 days of the trip. We were pretty happy when we got to switch rooms. I'm surprised no one ever fell off of this little thing!

Bryan was very happy to see an Apple store in Peru.

Every Sunday there is a free buffet for those in the Navy. We have an uncle in the Navy, so we went for the free buffet.. and swimming!

Norky's chicken... they have really good chicken! This kind of chicken is popular in Peru. And it's a good deal! We got the chicken, fries, salad, ice cream, and drinks for two and it was like $4 each. Yum!

The house we stayed in (Bryan's grandparents) Two of his aunts and uncles live next door and there are two more not too far from that.

The cake a few pictures above was for Tio Chino's birthday party. He was turning 50. This clown did a whole show, and I had to participate in the dance contest. I won.. but I think they just felt bad for me, lol. Then the clown put on his stilts, the dancing started. He was jumping all over, I don't know how he stayed up! He had little baby shoes on the bottom of the stilts, they were cracking me up! We stayed at the party until about 2 am because we had to get up at 7 am the next day to go home :(

So over all we had a GREAT time in Peru! I miss it a lot.. My whole family can't wait to go back someday.
